TGIF!! It’s Friday once again and the start to another weekend-one that’s promising to be nice! It is also Memorial Day weekend as well. Memorial Day began as Decoration Day back after the Civil War. It was to commemorate all of the fallen soldiers of that war. Today, it’s to commemorate all American service members killed in any conflict and to their memory and gratitude for their service.
Here locally, Sunday is the annual Ski to Sea race. Grok explains it like this:
Ski to Sea consists of seven legs—cross-country skiing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, running, road biking, canoeing, cyclocross biking, and sea kayaking—covered by teams of three to eight members, with each leg typically handled by a different teammate. The race spans 93 miles from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay and is held annually on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, which for 2025 is May 25.
It is quite the event and runs very close to our home. The roads are monitored by the police for safety of the bike portion of the race. You often have to find another way home if you’re out and about!

Work was busy; my coworker did actually come. I had quite the number of glasses orders to process and ship frames out! I’m glad the day is done!

Thank you @lucretia! We have many species of mushrooms here; 'shrooms as I like to call them. The Hoof Fungus is prolific this year. Some of the others are more elusive. I'm hoping to find more of them and photograph them.
