It's Summer season, and It's almost going to end. Have you decided where to go and have an outing with your family and friends? If you're in the Philippines right now, for sure you are battling the heat every day. It's summer season, and the heat index all over the nation is insane. To tell you it's very hot, so make sure to keep hydrated every time.
One of the remedies for scorching heat is visiting a beach or a cold spring to dive in and cool off. And this I what I did last March 31, 2025. It's my Day off, so I visited one of the famous summer destinations in Batangas, Philippines. The Town of Calatagan.
Honestly, that day I didn't have a plan to go to the beach, but the heat inside the house made me decide to take a trip. So I searched on the internet and most of the suggested feed is the Calatagan, Batangas. So I pack up my things. It's just a light things I might use on this trip.
It was lunchtime when I left the house. I ride my motorbike and head to this town. It was my first time at this destination, so I rode slowly. It was a long ride, it took me two and a half hours to reach the town of Calatagan, Batangas.
When Im in the entrance of the town, I stop first on the roadside to look for a specific place to visit. Funny right? Yes, I don't have a specific beach or location to visit at that time. Calatagan is home to beautiful beach resorts. So Im not worried I will not find a good one, and this S.M.P -M.P.A beach campsite is just one of them, and when I saw it on the internet, it enticed me to explore it. So I pin it on the map and head towards its location.
S.M.P - M.P.A Beach Campsite
This Camp is secluded and located in a narrow place. Did you know I almost lost along the way?. The road is not registered yet on the Google map, so I did a wrong turn, and when I checked the map, Im slowly getting away from the resort 😅. So I stopped and asked the residents on the area. Big thanks to the person who pointed out the way to the Campsite. You saved me that time.
Upon entering the Gate of the resort, you need to drive more than 3 minutes to reach the registration area. On this part, you will be asked if you will stay overnight or day tour. me I just decided to have a day tour at that time. They have pay parking for your vehicle, so no worries. On this part, you will pay the environmental fee and the entrance fee of the campsite. For the details of the rates, you can check the photo below for your reference.
After paying the entrance and the parking fee. I went inside the resort starting on this wooden bridge they built, on this part, I saw the beach from the campsite. As you can see, the low tide is very wide. I think it's a bad time for me to visit the place. Im a little bit down when I saw it cause I really want to swim on the beach. But it's beyond my control, so what I did I just go around the camp and explore inside.
On the Inside, in the entrance area, its a bit quite and I thought its has only few tourists are on the camp, but on the other side, you will find the other visitors who are camping and resting in their Cottages. Yes, inside you will find different cottages and tents where you can rent them out and have a camping trip with your friends and family.
Roaming around, one thing I'm looking for is their Canteen area Im a little bit hungry at that time due to long ride, and I want something to eat. But when I just step in on the inside of the restaurant, they greet me with the phrase " We are already closed ". Sadly, I explore the place with a bit of an empty stomach, glad I have a chocolate in my bag to ease my hungry stomach in the meantime.
The Camp is not that huge, you can explore the entire place by 20 minutes. You can see more cottages and tents under the mangroves. The beachside has white fine sand that everyone surely enjoys. You will also find some boats on the coastline. As per management, it is used by the fishermen, and the area in the Camp is their docking area.
The place is perfect to destress and connect with nature. It is calm and serene, you will hear the sound of the mangrove insects and the breeze of the ocean, even during its low tide. One thing that I love on this Camp is the golden time, when the sun is setting and saying goodbye to you. I think if the water is a bit higher at that time, this will be a more magnificent view.
Even though you can still say that this place is a perfect spot to end the day. The sunset will make you smile and realize how beautiful life is for you to give up on a certain small problem. Just like the sun, it continues to rise on the next day and shines and conquers the world with its beaming light. It's a quarter to six pm when I leave the campsite. Im Happy and glad I visited this place.
Want to Visit?
If you are planning to explore this place, its exact location is situated in Sitio Palobandera, Brgy Sta Ana, Calatagan, Batangas. If you are from Manila, you can take a Bus from the DLTB Bus Station going to Calatagan Public Market. It will cost you 5 -6 dollars for the fair. Travel time is approximately 3 hours, depending on the traffic conditions. Once you are in Calatagan Public Market, ride a tricycle for 1$ per head. It will take you 20 minutes to reach the Campsite.
You can also use a private vehicle, just pin it on the map and follow the suggested route. Just make sure to ask the resident n the area to make sure the exact way. The path to the Campsite is a bit tricky.
Travel Tips

What an enriching experience at Calatagan Beach! Your story conveys the serenity and beauty of this place, ideal for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature.
Have you considered exploring other lesser-known beaches in the Batangas region that offer a similar experience of tranquility and connection with nature? It might be interesting to discover and share these hidden corners.
Thank you @wizloge glad you like it.

Beautiful capture of the place especially the sunset shots. I like how the sky looks, the combination of different shades. It's also nice that they offer different activities for the tourists/guests. I agree, I prefer the view of the sea when it's high tide and also it's more suitable for swimming.
