What can we do when we feel hopeless and frustrated? Nowadays, many people seem to struggle with these feelings a lot. I’ve been thinking about this not only because these feelings come and go but also to understand why so many people feel this way even when there’s no obvious reason.
To be honest, most of the frustration and hopelessness I see in people comes from small and insignificant things and things that normally shouldn’t cause such strong negative feelings. When I looked at myself, I realized I’m just like them sometimes feeling upset over small things too. So, I combined my own experience with these thoughts as a reflection of what many of us go through.
If I had to estimate, I’d say a lot of people get frustrated by things that don’t seem that serious. Of course, there are major problems that cause real despair like losing a job or losing a loved one. But often I find myself or others upset over very minor things that should pass like a wind without causing any problem to us.
For example, missing an appointment or missing a game or your favorite team losing even losing a simple game on your phone. Maybe your friends went on a trip and you didn’t go with them. Compared to the big life problems I mentioned, these things seem trivial and shouldn’t affect our mood so much or stop us from moving forward so why it affects us like this and leave a fingerprint in our day.
So why do we get like this? It’s because of the big expectations and hopes we have nowadays mostly because of social media. Social media shows us everything, every achievement and makes us want to reach what others have, not just one famous person but everything all at once.
I believe our minds aren’t ready yet for all this information and ambition flooding in. This overload causes us to feel dissatisfaction with our own reality. We start living differently in our minds that affected by the frustrations and hopelessness of others and end up living a life that’s not really ours.
So I hope that we have to be mature enough that looking at bigger goals and bigger achievement and looking at the top of the mountain not the bottom and in this case you would be a mature person and have strong mentality and personality that would not be affected by such minor things.
