As we all know, witnesses are the backbone of the Hive platform—the unsung heroes who ensure everything runs smoothly. They operate critical nodes that keep the platform alive and thriving. Without witnesses, Hive wouldn’t exist, and without us, there would be no content to share and engage with, which is why we need to get familiar with who our witnesses are.
That's why I've created this special edition of "Meet Our Hive Witnesses."
This interview series aims to connect with our witnesses, giving you a closer look at the people who keep Hive running. We’ll dive into their work, motivations, and insights through a series of thoughtful questions.
It is the sixth edition of Meet Our Hive Witnesses Interview and before I continue with the introduction of the next witness that has honoured us to be interviewed, I'd like to say that, as a Hive user who want to see this platform continue to grow and flourish, we all have 30 votes to cast for any Hive witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform for any witnesses that you deem it fit.
In this week episode, I am excited to bring to you a seasoned hive witness @actifit who is charge the Actifit project that reward its users with token rewards via auto tracking there day to day activities either by a jog, walk your dog, mow your lawn, go to the gym, move around your office,... to reach a minimum of 5,000 activity count.

Welcome to my interview, it is a great honour to have you here on the show this week @actifit
Thanks, below are the answers:actifit
1 What do you believe is the single most important responsibility of a Hive witness?
@actifit- Block production and securing the network
2 Do you feel the witness election process is accessible and transparent? If not, how can it be improved?
@actifit - It is very transparent as anyone can see and cast votes publicly. It is also accessible as many front ends provide details regarding witness votes.
3.How do you handle the competition among witnesses, and what differentiates you from other witnesses?
@actifit - we actually think the competition among witnesses is healthy in a decentralized environment, as long as the goal is pushing hive to a better future. We as a witness bring to the table both our dapp (Actifit) which has been on Hive since inception, but also our development work to core projects for Hive (such as HAF block explorer UI) while also running many infrastructure nodes for hive such as HAF API node.
4 Do you think Hive’s DPoS model needs modifications? If yes, what specific changes would you recommend?
@actifit - DPOS is a pretty powerful model, it's been working for hive and many other chains for years. Of course no system comes without trade offs. We believe pros outweigh cons.
5 What steps can be taken to ensure more transparency in decision-making, reward distribution, and governance?
@actifit - As mentioned above, Hive is all about transparency, this includes rewards and governance. DHF plays a useful role as well in Hive's growth and transparency, as projects that seek to make changes and submit a proposal, and upon community approval, can get funded and proceed with their work. It is more of an issue of reach moreso than transparency, as the participation rates can sometimes be considerably low in terms of voting for governance.
6 Should witnesses have a formal mechanism for accountability? If yes, how would you envision such a system working and what should they be held accountable for?
@actifit - As the essential responsibility for a witness is block production and network safety, witnesses who fail in accomplishing this can be unvoted by the stakeholders.
7 Since you became a witness, what impact have you made on the community that other witnesses have not done?
@actifit - As highlighted above, we created one of the first dapps on hive (Actifit - fitness focused app) and have been growing it since. We continuously contribute to core development of Hive's tools. We run many infrastructure nodes in support of Hive. We are also very vocal across socials about Hive and promote it heavily. We've signed up thousands of users to Hive across the years.
8 How do witnesses collaborate to solve community-wide issues, and what can be done to improve this process?
@actifit - Witness connect via a several collaborative chat platform, and issues are normally raised there, discussed and dealt with. On chain discussions also happen frequently regarding different issues or concerns.
9 Do you believe there should be a structured process for witness succession or rotation to encourage fresh ideas?
@actifit - It is really up to the community to decide who the top 20 witnesses are by voting for their representatives. Having more participation from the community is essential. This can be better promoted via front ends. New witnesses are welcome to voice their opinions on chain as well.
10 How do you handle criticism from the community, and how has it shaped your approach as a witness?
@actifit - We welcome any constructive criticism by the community. We've always received feedback, particularly to our app (Actifit) and were able to contiuously build and grow the app based on user feedback. Our discord is always open for feedback.
11 How do you see the role of witnesses evolving as the Hive platform grows and changes?
@actifit - While as mentioned above, the core job of a witness is to secure the network and produce blocks, we believe witnesses can also help by providing essential tools for hive, whether by participating in core development, run robust hive/HAF nodes, but also be vocal about Hive and bringing awareness to it.
12 Some users feel witnesses hold too much power. What are your thoughts on decentralizing witness influence further?
@actifit - That is not our experience. Although some stakeholders hold a lot of Hive, that is mostly due to their belief in the chain. Historically we have not seen any confluence actions of witnesses that could threaten Hive, as Hive was built to counter this and was built by the community, nor do we believe that such malicious actions could come to play.
13 As a witness or developer, how would you like to be remembered in the Hive community?
@actifit - Via our contributions to the growth and success of Hive. We believe everything we have done and are doing contibutes to making Hive a better place to be :)
It is so awesome finally having a chat with you @actifit
Thanks so much for creating time for meet our Hive witness. Have a wonderful day 🤝🏻

Great interview @goldenproject I always enjoy going through your interviews since you started, your questions always dig deep and bring out the heart of each witness. @actifit, given your long-standing contributions, what future development do you think Hive needs most right now....and how do you seem to balance developer work and being a witness on the Blockchain
Thank you for always enjoying my interview. It's what I do 😄
I love the questions asked and the answers were straight and forward. I believe the witnesses are doing a good job on the chain and the purpose is to make Hive thrive - that’s something important to focus on. Great interview @goldenproject
